Lost
No, I don't want you back, I've long since moved on
but its time like these that I wonder what went wrong.
The moments that shaped who we were and what we became
are blurred and faded and jaded and tame;
One day you loved me, a person with flare
then the next, the one I loved was simply not there.
People grow up and change with out a doubt
but do they usually change their entire route?
Its like the man I one knew had run far away
and the stranger in his place-- he was terribly grey.
Without the love of the man I once knew
Each try for the spark invariably fell through
We yelled and screamed and we stubbornly fought:
for the love and the dreams apart we sought
for the days and the nights of passion and lust
but alas there was no metal beneath all the rust.
So what then, are we to do with memories abound
its hard now to keep my feet on the ground:
I was so young, I don't think you comprehend
exactly what you meant to me, even in the end.
I said it plenty-- time and time again
I was addicted to you-- my mortal sin.
Your hands on my body, your eyes on mine
pulling me in with every cheesy line.
Your smell, your eyes, your sweet caress;
the feelings I had were hard to suppress.
I tried and I struggled to keep you away
But I feel deeper into you with each passing day.
The way I left was cold and abrupt
but thoughts of you began to disrupt
my life, my dreams and the life I wanted to lead;
I felt like you were all I would need
I was afraid and hurt from the truth I now know
you stopped loving me a long time ago.
We went through the motions of something routine
failing into traps we had both foreseen.
Why then, if we knew the cost
would we keep going back to something we lost.
We wanted it back, we wanted to win
but only I wanted back what once had been.
Maybe you loved me, what I could be
but by loving an idea you never will see
what life could have held for you and me
So how to I get closure, how do I forget, when I cant even end this fabricated verse?
