Lost and Found: a Haiku

To take for granted

A gift so precious it makes

Your heart and mind sing

To brush it off as

Nothing, to not treasure it

As it so deserves

To lose such a thing

To time, to mortality,

Scattered to the wind

To reach and to call

All in vanity but in

All necessity

To wither, feel such

Unrequited need that you

Feel like you could burn

To embrace again

Lost beauty, lost perfection,

Lost, searched for, and found.
