Lost Boy

You fear touch

Because you have only known its sting and hurt

But never the soft caress of your face

You push away emotion

Because you've been only felt hate

But not kindness and compassion

Love is an alien concept to you

Because ever loving somebody

only burned you and made you

cynical towards its existence

When you look in the mirror

you only see shadows that mask you

Because you've been told

that they own you and will not easily

be forgotten or forgiven

Other people see a man lonely and

self loathing, who has never know joy

But I see something different

A lost boy
