Lost to Fire, Cracks like Ice

We hate that fire takes

Unless we feed it ourselves

We love that ice preserves

Unless it cracks our nails

And when our nails bleed

We’re quick to blame the wind

Without really thinking how

We’re biting them too

The kindling cracks as well

We scream like bones are breaking

But instead the house is shaking

We love what fire is taking
