A Lost Ideal

We are forced within

A denominator

By luck and chance alone

Forgetful, they discern

The sins of ancestors

And wallow in

Divisions of every leaf

On a single tree

A hemisphere coldens

As the other basks in sun

A frosty planet shoves away

All its hope and union

Bareness is the fear

For this world lost in ice

Distrust, inhuman rust

Grows in the winter

Hypocrites take center stage

To ridicule ignorance

Every move they calculate

And every value thrash.

Distrusting all that

Cannot be quantified,

Robotic joy defeats

Feeling and beauty

Among two-thirds of human life

Heroes scream for rights

To thunderous applause

Accepting the death

Of the yearly millionth

Who meets meaningless

Fate

As a hero otherwise.

Freedom can choose

The winds of pleasure's quest

Or the waiting ocean

That only brings us home

Away from the discord

And our condemnation

Of fallen family members long

Neglected and ignored

Darkness attacks us

And that's okay

For through evil

The good is seen

Thank you for sharing

All the joy we do

For all we have is life

And they, the cherished

Perfection awaits Man

When contemporaries love

By virtue of their nature

And shrink the distance

That plagues our lives

Until there’s Heaven

Where we may chill at last

And unite forever

So why be down-to-earth

When we naturally fly?

Why fear your people so

When in life we tie?

Why scoff at the ideal

When it shows us why

Life is more than DNA

And we are here to stay
