Lost Love

Do you see her?

The girl on the cliff,

brown hair fluttering

in the wind

like ash after an explosion.

Her fingers intertwine

in front of her chest

like tangled vines.

Her skin is darkened

by the sun

who tried to calm her

with its gentle kiss

The breeze plays

with her white lace dress

making it dance

around her knees.

Do you know who she is?

She is a traveler’s wife.

Waiting for the day

her husband will return home.

She is a beacon

shining like a light house

She cries out

to the crashing waves.

hoping they will tell her

the whereabouts of her husband.

But her voice is

stolen by the wind.

Her tears like dreams

lost in the night.

Time is her only friend

to comfort her while she waits.
