a lost love

you've seen the darkest of me

and the most vulnerable pieces of me

you've held me in the night

and kissed me in the morning

you loved me when i couldn't love myself

and now

you're a stranger

an impossible conversation

a slight wave

and avoided eye contact

how is it that

we can be so close

then fall apart

so hard
