A Lost Marine

Have you yet lost a child, a son

in a battle or a war?

For a fight that was never won

do you know who their fighting for?

They joined and became strong

all are known as "the few, the proud."

for you know it was never wrong

the fighting was always loud.

Guns are fired all day long

one of those shots took your son

keep you head up he was strong

you have lost and have not won.

As you fall you scream and yell

your flesh and blood is dead,

and wish it all hadn't gone to hell

no matter what you could have said.

You wish he'd never hone in

put himself in harms way

for he knew it wasn't a sin

so he said, "mom, I'll be okay."

He is a hero to all around

for all who know no horror

cause we don't know the horror to go to war.

He guards the gates of heaven,

Semper Fi my brother

him and his crew of seven

"The few, the strong, the proud"

for he was prince and you were queen

thanks so much for your United States Marine.
