Lost Souls
Tormented souls stabbing at blackened hearts
Hanging from ropes, dangle still warm bodies
Bending over the sink trying to lose whatever contents are left inside
Mayabe it's a large pill bottle right at your fingertips tempting you to take one too many
Or maybe it's just substances that make your nose bleed, fog your brain, or thin your lungs
Drining burning liquids that cause you to forget what happened when you wake up
Maybe you have a small gun that seems to fit just right in your hand when you feel the time is right
Or is it that stack of spare razors you keep hidden in the back of your closest
Wonder what makes some one pick their poison
Is it written within us that one of these will end each and every one of us?
Is it the feeling that we get when the pain grazes our skin?
Cold bodies and warm hands
Vacant eyes and empty arms
Lie so deep it cuts like a knife
Shadows break through dawn's low lights
Dirt mixed in with stardust
Dreams no longer, your nightmares now wander
Run, hide, and get away from what's inside
Bury it deep down and wish it gone
Swallow down your suffering
Careful, beware don't get scared
We all have demons inside us
They're no longer beside us
Maybe we are so bruised and damaged that it left us empty
We are all just pieces of broken glass waiting for someone to fix us
Someone comes near and you put out your sharp edges that only cause fear
Ops, there goes falling tears cascading down hollow cheeks
A barrier of burned bridges and nimble fingers
Dangerous care-givers, we are
Who are we kidding? We are empty
Surrounded by fragments of the past
Torn at the edges and ripped to pieces
Will we begin again or is this the end?
