Lost Without the Lessons
One day,
whether you expect it or not,
your world will change,
making it all seem strange.
If you could pick any one thing which you could not live without,
whether a person, idea, or object
What would it be...
Do not be hasty, just careful in what you select.
I would consider my dog who I would only have for
5, 6, or 7 more years,
Then consider my best friend, who has always
been here,
But nothing else comes to mind,
When asked upon what I could not leave behind.
Mom,
You gave me a flower, yet, showed me how to blossom.
You led me to the waves of the ocean, giving me the sun, which has always watched over me, just as you said.
You took me to the fireworks, showing that there is light throughout the sky, even when dark.
You showed me my roots like a tree in the ground, allowing me to branch out and learn the wonders in this world.
You showed me a car crash, letting me know that it is okay to make mistakes because things go wrong.
You showed me fire, telling me to never loose mine and go after everything I have ever dreamed of.
You showed me compassion, love, and joy, as well as sadness, worry, and frustration.
You led me to see the highs and lows of life.
You have been my tree, which holds all the lessons you taught.
I will forever hold them so close to my heart.
If lost, I would not be able to put up a fight.
