Lost Words
Words that belonged to mind
Have joined the ranks
Of paints clinging to a brush
Meant to sing across some canvas
With a talent I was not blessed with
And a passion I use for other endeavors
I could ask why you have encrypted yourself
But the only response I’d receive
Would be in languages I have always elude
And symbols I will never understand
Are you mad about inspiration I always fail to grasp?
That I watch as it dissipates into my subconscious
Like fireworks to commemorate American independence
So aweing for a second, before it is out of sight, mind, and sound
And all that remains is black – a void so empty, so deep –
So deep that I can see the evading words reflected in it
Words of nonsense – of chaos –
As I reach and long for them
They steadily move away, leaving me amiss
Causing only pain as they stab my illiterate heart
