A Lot About Me

I am the most beautiful

Smiling into a fogged-up mirror

Wearing nothing but confidence.

I smell like the city

And the cigarettes that

I swear I’ll never smoke,

And rain and the sunshine

And sweat from your scrutiny.

My real smile comes with a side

Of crinkled eyes

And too many teeth

And my sentences spill over

With commas,

And colons,

And continuations,

Because I’m never done trying

To tell you my story.

And I love school

And I hate closed-toed shoes

And I think that says

A lot about me.
