Loud Noises
the explosions, the horrid screams
it’s all too much
where is our humanity?
can it be heard within these loud noises?
beheading, raping
it’s all too much
the wailing, the painful cry
these are not good loud noises
what happened to accepting others and minding your own business?
we used to, but now we don’t.
it’s all too much
the forceful and unkind nature of those who are unhappy with the world
i don’t like those kinds of loud noises
corruption of government, pointless politics
it’s all too much
what happened to the leaders who fought for the people?
now they’re blinded by paper that brings them temporary happiness
these loud noises should not be heard
let’s all be quiet
just for five minutes
and see what silence can do
see what peace will emerge
see what understanding will come forth from us
see how happiness will engulf the world
even though it’s quiet
these loud noises are being heard.
