Loud Palpitations

She has a heart like thunder,

That booms conspicuously.

A heart so loud,

it touched even these faint ears.

She helped lead me on a path

I didn’t know I wanted to go on.

She found in me,

a dormant sign of electricity.

She discovered in me,

a blossoming self-love.

She believes in me,

more than I can say about myself.

But that’s really all I need;

a persistent propagator.

Because if I am given up on—

if faith in me is lost,

I will lose faith in myself too.

But I will never have to worry,

for her heart is like thunder.

And if lightning strikes upon misfortune,

she will remind me of the rainbow to come.
