Louisa

I remember now
That the sun is going down
Your hair was gold
Just like the sunlight

And your smile
Felt like the beams
Of golden sun
Touching that last hill

Though I still find it
Hard to believe
That those smiles
Shined down on my shoulders
Like these beams are now

Louisa, why did you stay
You could have left
But you didn't
You stayed

I miss you, Louisa
But I won't ask
You to come back
I'm not cruel

Hey, Louisa,
Remember the days
In the field while
The sun went down
Like the way it is today

You had a pretty red cape
And I brought you
home by moonlight
So your father wouldn't know

I had dirty shoes
And one pair of my clothes
While you had a new dress
Every day (and you were always beautiful)

But my god, Louisa,
Why me? I wasn't
Special or anything
Like the rich men
Just a farm boy

Just a farm boy
Who loved you
It wasn't worth it
Louisa
