Love?
Being in love is a terrible thing.
Always controlled,
Like a puppet on a string.
Could not go out,
Could not have fun.
But those weren’t the only problems
They had only just begun.
Long distance made it harder.
Their affection did not grow fonder.
If anything at all,
The distance made her struggle grow stronger.
From trying to please
Her first love with little ease.
To worry about her weight
And counting what she ate.
A year and a half later,
Her self esteem low,
getting her away from her dictator,
And not letting her scars show.
Trying to start over,
Trying to move on.
No longer a pushover,
The old her is gone.
She knows what she wants.
She knows what she needs.
No longer on medication.
Planning for her future's needs.
All that she needed
Was someone who cared.
Someone to be there,
So her feelings she could share.
All the advice she can give
To anyone who is suffering,
Is to not suffer alone,
Find someone who is comforting.
And all that she asks
For those who really care
Is to not leave them alone.
Their suicidal feelings are enough pain for them to bear.
If you think something is wrong
To a loved one or a friend,
Just step in to help,
And be there until their suffering ends
