Love

"I love you," he said.

He did not.

"I love you," she said.

She did not.

However, all was not for naught,
For both received what they sought.

They received a hand to hold,

When they days get cold,

Received children, to which stories could be told,

They received someone beside them foever,

A tie that would never sever,

Because that tie was duty,
A tie, durable, you see,

If nothing else,

They had stability,

A house,

A cup of tea,

Sometimes, what is sought is not love,

Fleeting like a dove,

Breathless, like the first night first kiss...

But who can tell the difference?
