From Like to Love

You used to make my heart race, I liked to make you smile.

Our friendship seemed to pick up pace, but my feelings were juvenile.

One day I sat with you and just let my feelings spew:

"Um, I like you!"

Five years later and we're still friends.

A friendships that never bends.

My liking faded and has upgraded.

Push comes to shove, my like turned to love.

My heart does not race, and I no longer wait just in case.

In the end, you're my best friend.

I do not need anyone else to comprehend.
