Love Is...

Love is..

To fall for someone (but not always romantically)

Love is..

To think about them when you should not be

Love is..

Scary

Love is..

Unavoidable

Love is..

The most dangerous emotion

Because I love you

Love

You don’t just say “I love you”

You never only say “Because I love you”

You say…

“Call me when you get there”, as you watch them walk away

“Be safe” lingers on your lips

“Remember that time we..” as you get lost in the memory of their smile

“Don’t forget your..” as they rush out out because you lost track of time again

“Beautiful” before I can open my eyes

“I’m here for you” as I face my demons

Love is..

Holding their hand when you walk down the street

Seeing something and immediately thinking of them

When that song comes on and you laugh because you just know

Knowing what that look in their eyes means

Stolen kisses

Warmth

Her smile

His laugh

Their heartbeat

Love is when your heart no longer speeds up but slows down

It’s when you know you’re safe

When times stops mattering

Days spent laughing with tears in your eyes

The right words that you didn't know existed

Inside jokes that follow you when you work

Late night stories

Calls that don’t end when we fall asleep

Love is unexpected

Love is..

Standing by your side as you come out

Holding my hand when I tell you I’m not in the right body and telling me that you'll be there with me the whole way

Kissing me in front of everyone who said we were “wrong”

Being together

Love isn’t...

Telling me “forever” when you know it won’t last

Holding me close while you hold her closer

Playing my fears

Whispered threats

Nightmares while you’re awake

When you told me I was “the one”

You never said that I was one of many

Letting me lose myself

Silence

The Silence that was shattering

Holding my broken pieces only to crush them

Screaming that you stopped hearing a long time ago

I remember the lies

Putting on that ring

Excuses for a love that was never there

Seeing proof it wasn't ever there

Believing your honeyed words that it was a mistake

Turning my back on my friends

Pulling my strings

Pushing me down

Because I love you I have to leave

Because you never really loved me
