Love Is
Love is comfortable.
Like your favorite pair of socks-
The ones that have a hole in the bottom.
You got them for Christmas,
Thinking they were just socks.
But then its cold.
And those socks are the key to your happiness.
Plus warm feet.
Love is funny.
Like that inside joke with your best friend,
And it's honestly really dumb.
No one else gets it,
But it could make you laugh out loud-
Even now.
Love is kind.
Like that time some stranger
Held the door open extra long.
And it was awkward,
But you're a germaphobe.
So you didn't want to touch the door anyway.
Love is constant.
Like that umbrella.
You keep it in your trunk,
And you forget about it.
Till it's pouring rain,
And you're having a really good hair day.
Love is the sum total
Of every selfless, pure, genuine
Thing we do.
Because everyone is someone.
Even if they're only that to us.
We don't really earn the love we receive.
Priceless things can not be
Repaid, exchanged or returned.
But we deserve the love we receive.
And we deserve to give love.
