Is That Love?

"Because I love you" is what they will say,

"I will take all of you as mine," without your consent in any way.

And because they claim to love you,

You dare not to move.

You let them violate you

Even if you disapprove.

"Because I love you" is what they will say,

"Do not talk to other people or else I will feel

You only love me halfway."

And because they claim to love you,

You dare not to disobey.

You speak to no one

Even if your heart is in dismay.

"Because I love you" is what they will say,

"Lose some weight. Do you want to die at a young age?"

And because they claim to love you,

You dare not to ignore.

You lose the weight

Even if you were the perfect size before.

"Because I love you" is what they will say,

But do they love you?

There should be an understanding,

Even if their will is very demanding.

There should be communication,

Even if they seem to just be giving dictations.

There should be trust,

Even if it seems unjust.

There should be respect,

Even if your love is not perfect.

But as much as you may love them,

Love yourself as much.

Because you cannot feed a village,

If you cannot feed yourself.

"Because I love you"

Should be used to justify

Things we want the person to follow

To help them grow inside.

Love is complex

And hard to understand,

So do not expect everyone

To convey their emotions with this phrase as planned.

Love is beautiful,

Love is enduring,

Love is merciful,

Love is reassuring.

And because I love you, love yourself.
