Love?

Love, a word that is now used too frequently

by those who are desperate for mediocrity.

I chose you because I was desperate.

I didn't even know you.

A word that is used to either

lift up spirits or begin all hell.

At  first I thought that I met the person of my dreams.
But my dreams soon turned to nightmares.

The personal hell  I was trapped in,

seemed as though Satan himself made it.

I was undable to break free from my chains

of despair and ruin you forced upon me.

The thought of knowing the truth of someone leaving,

causes the mind to react, forcefully.

I tried to get away from you,

but I quickly became sorry, to please you.

I guess what they said about "no pain, no gain" was right.

I mean why else would you hurt me.

You hit me, you kicked me, you forced me,

but you never broke me.

The never ending war was only one-sided,

me being the only one defeated.

My tears shattered,

leaving nothing but bomshell cracks on the floor.

But you bipolarity was so persuasive,

that I nearly forget the fights.

That is, until our hands

met my wounds

Now i'm looking at our old pictures,

feeling a painful resentment.

But I miss the way you touched me,

at least when you were content.

Desiring you was my greatest mistake,

and for that, I will never truly love you.

You were just a false belief from my heart,

an unforgettable memory,

an unforgivable memory.

No matter what you do to me,

I will always be the victor of the war,

because I survived.
