Love

To José,

Love is the color of soft pink you find swirled in strawberry icecream

Love sounds like the joy of seeing your enormous fluffy dog after an exhausting, horrid day at work

Love tastes like a cup of hot chocolate on a cold, winter day

It smells like apple pie straight out of the oven

Love is the sight of two souls intertwining to be one

Love makes me want to live longer, to experience more.

Love is blood red as the realization of heartbreak plasters on your face

It is the sound of a storm and its thunder

Love tastes like the bitter aftertaste of a sip of steaming, black coffee

It smells like the humid air after the storming rain

Love looks like a volcano erupting, with its lava destroying everything in its path.

Love makes me want to rethink everything I’ve ever decided.

Love is the color blue after the pain has subsided

Love is the sound of a child laughing after a bad fall

It is the taste of lemonade on a crisp, summer day

Love smells like lavender sheets as they just came out of the dryer

Love looks like the sun shining after the clouds have passed

Love makes me want to be happy again.

You are that love

That continues to ignite a passion within me

That is the whiskey that burns on my tongue

Addictive

Yet warm
