That Is Love

"It hurts, it hurts

Oh, how it hurts!"

"Yes, my dear,

That is love."

"I walked, I ran,

I did all that I could!"

"Yes, my dear,

That is love."

"I was there every night

When the tears would not cease!"

"Yes, my dear,

That is love."

"I'd swim, I'd sink,

But now it's all gone!"

"Yes, my dear,

That is love."

"I watched and I waited

But nobody came!"

"Yes, my dear,

That is love."

"Tell me why, oh why,

Oh, why does it hurt!"

"Because my dear,

You were loved."
