Lo_ve

How are you meant to start a poem about love?

It’s indescribable by words, and even harder to understand with a human’s brain.

Euphoria springs to mind, yet even than seems to be an obsolete form of phrasing, it’s much more than just a feeling of happiness or a longing to be with somebody.

It hits you in the heart, much different from a feeling of fear or sadness that strike at the head.

The heart, the most important organ of the body, responsible for keeping us all alive, and yet so delicate it can be broken in a matter of seconds.

Yet inside the heart, is where love resides, often hidden away and locked in shut, for giving out love freely is a dangerous game.

Love is much more complex than just words on a page, or thoughts in a head. It’s an understanding of the soul, true love is rare and fleeting and therefore needs to be treasured, held close to oneself and nurtured.

Time is love’s greatest ally, with time love grows and flourishes, and hearts are mended.

Love is a fearful game, one of trust and responsibility, daunting at first and one that needs skill to get right.

Yet if you choose to love, give your all to that person as they give their all back to you.

Hand over you heart, and love without fear of consequence.

And if your heart ends up broken, give it time, let it heal and reshape but don’t shut out the outside world.

Continue your journey to find the one, and give out your love to the deserving.
