in love

She was in love,

Not with a person,

Or a specific face.

Yet her eyes were warm,

And her heart filled with grace.

She traced the earth with her fingertips,

Gentle and soft.

Yet there was a storm inside her

That couldn't be stopped.

This love has been kind,

This love has been tough.

But like all the great loves,

She’ll never give up.

She was in love with the stars,

For they made her feel small.

She was in love with the trees,

And the way they stood tall.

The dirt beneath her nails,

From the mountains she’s climbed.

The seeds in her soul,

That have been planted over time.

She was in love with the tide,

The way it rushed back and forth

It was just like her mind,

Unable to discern.

The depth of the ocean,

Didn’t scare her away

Even the uncertainty,

She chose to embrace.

She was in love with rain,

The way it comes and goes.

a reminder that everything is temporary,

Even happiness, even pain.

She was in love with the feeling

Of looking above,

A reminder that life is beautiful

And everything is love.
