Love

I know a man of love

Ive built a home inside his heart

i have cut myself down the middle

to open up

to the man i know of love

the cut is beautiful

a work of art

i know a man of strength

he lifts the world off my shoulders

his touch lingers on my skin

they leave invisible dots

connectting the highway lines

that lead me home

he takes away my pain

i can feel it through my flesh and bones

i know a man of strength

i long for his soul

A river runs deep through this cut with purpose

the man of love

the man of strength

floats through my stream of hopelessness.

he gives my faith length

id rather be burned and stained

than never to get to know the

man of love the

man of strength.

This poem was inspired by the way my mother would express to me about my father
