Love

Quiet and subtle, concealed as it grows

Hated, desired, treasured, and abused

The topic of art, poetry, and prose

A force so pure, yet so often misused

Caused by both indifference and passion

Changing a person, both the heart and mind

Leaving faces of both joy and ashen

Yet, if kept pure, it is a treasured find

Desired as a gift, yet also given

It is a choice, as well as a feeling

If misused, it’s hard to be forgiven

But when true, it spends lifetimes revealing

Love is timeless, drawing us together.

Treasure it dear, never let it weather.
