'Love and Hate'

I’ve got Love and Hate
I knew it was a mistake
I thought it was bad
It made me so sad
Have you been in prison many would say?
Others just nod or wink
But I know how they really think
Thirty years or so on
I’m called to follow God’s son
This didn’t change the Love and the Hate
My past, my shame, my sin, my pain
Lovingly freed now, by my new Best Mate
Pick up the pieces
New start, serving Jesus
Within community, Love and Hate now make sense
I’m accepted, yeah, I’ve now got street cred-ence!
Love and Hate were once about pity
My hands have become my new ident-ity
A man from South Devon reveals this new view
Really, is this what it means?
Really, is all not what it seems?
My hands placed before him, he shows me the way
Right over left, good overcomes evil, he goes on to say
My eyes are now opened, Love and Hate I can share
This man from South Devon has made me aware
