To Love and Loose

Sometimes knowing some one is out of reach can be the most painful knowledge one can possess. Like grains of sand slipping through fingertips, you can feel that person slide away. When you stand in their presence, the world seems dull When they are gone, The world cuts life a knife. Sometimes I want to hide from life so I don't have to feel things for a while. You feel warmth and light flowing off of them, like a switch those feelings are gone. You are left cold and tired. Thus is the way of love. You can deny it, but it will still ravage your life. Your heart will flutter at the mention of their name, your whole body will yearn to be near them. But a one-sided love is doomed to leave someone empty and alone. Is it truly better to have loved and lost?
