Love and Time

love and time
are two that do not mix
they are the water and oil
of our tragic world

because all the hours
spent with your love
can truly never
feel like enough

it is merely grasping
onto your eternity
until your knuckles are white
then you must let go

and when the heart breaks
from a love lost too soon
this is when time slows
and lets you feel the void

so we chase this time
while we feel this love
and hope to never lose it
or feel the clock slow

we want these quick hours
with the one we love
because when time flies

we know we are lost in one another
