Love and Writing is Herditary

As I look into your eyes

I see all that will be.

Things that will come

Up in an instant.

Your problems, your worries,

Your pain.

I see you write them down,

From me to you.

I love you as if the day were new,

Where West meets East and the

Sun never sets.

I see my face in yours

My eyes are your eyes

Your hair is my hair

My blood is your blood,

Even your father you favor.

I see all the things you will do,

Seeing me suffer the demise

Of preganacy, and live life

Without a college degree.

Yet I’m fine because I have

You.

I see you write and I feel

My spirit with yours.

A never ending cycle that

When you have children

My spirit will go on.

Generations of my spirit,

My life.

This is true Immortality.

So write me down on

The pages, the words of

I imprinted in paper,

And you’ll see why you write.

Because you are my child.

Wrote this poem for the scholarship, but this is true of why I love to write poetry. My mother is a big inspiration to me, and hope this poem truly gives off how much I truly thank and appreciate her.
