Love Betrays
When loneliness begins to rise,
The mind will feed the heart with lies.
It paints the past in softer light
And hides what stole your peace at night.
When you start missing what you had,
Recall the disrespect and the bad.
Don’t let your longing make you blind
To all the ways they drained your mind.
When you feel tempted to forgive,
Remember how hard it was to live.
The heavy chest, the anxious air,
The silent damage left you there.
They twisted truth to gain control,
Used guilt and games to shape your soul.
Every promise, every plea,
Was just another way to keep you weak.
When you begin to miss their love,
Remember what it truly was.
The “I love you’s” they spoke so well
Were said while texting someone else.
While you were loyal, staying true,
They entertained attention too.
You gave your heart with open hands,
While they kept secrets with no care for you.
So do not ache for words they said
When actions proved those words were dead.
Because real love does not betray
Then whisper promises to make you stay.
And when you start to seek their praise,
Remember all your smaller days.
How having access to your heart
Made them tear your worth apart.
When you romanticize their name,
Their “potential” and what “became,”
Remember most of what you saw
Was built from hope… not proof at all.
The grieving mind will often try
To resurrect what should have died.
Not every ache means love was true.
Sometimes pain just misses you.
So let your standards hold the line,
Even when your heart starts to rewind.
Because love without respect,
Will slowly rot the strongest mind.
And one day silence will reveal
What chaos never let you feel.
That losing them was not your end,
But where your broken soul could mend.
For healing is a sacred art,
A quiet rebuilding of the heart.
And those who choose their peace at last
Stop bleeding for a faithless past.
