Love Is Black And White

Love Is Black And White

By: Anthony Gregory Guajardo

A lot of things in life are complicated, complex and confusing but not love

If love was a picture, it would be one that is black and white, one that is a source of light, and happiness on your soul

Either you love or you don't, there is no in between or no center

Either you forgive or you don't, there is no midpoint and no middle ground

Love is black and white

Either they are the first person who you think about when you wake up or when you go to sleep, someone who's needs you put ahead of yours

Love is black and white

Either it inspires you to change even though you are set in your bad ways

Or it will inspire you to want to be a better person even though that will take a whole lot of effort and learning or it won't

        Love is black and white

Either it's something you live for, something you die for

Or it's just a chore or an activity to fill in the cracks of your

otherwise self occupied life in which case you shouldn't say you

                                               are in love at all

You see love is black and white

Either it makes you feel like you are on a cloud and even if you fell

back down to earth you would still be okay

Or it makes you feel like you are drowning, but at that final

moment, when the last few inches of your lungs completely fill

with water never comes, if that's the case that is not love

Either you get up early to take a train to the other side of town

because that flower shop is the only place that sells the sun

flowers that she loves and you want to have them for her before

                       she gets home

Or you can't be bothered to go down the street

to get a bag of chips that she's craving

                                Love is black and white

                                Love means you forgive

Loves means you put their needs before your own

Love means you want to better yourself for them

Love means you will live and die for them

You see when it comes to these things there is no middle ground

                                Either you do or don't

Either you can or you won't

Love is black and white, and that's my favorite kind of picture

This is my poem about love for the current scolorahip prompt. It is my honest opion on what a relationship should be, and how I view what love is and what it should be. I am excited to share this, and this is the first poem I have written that I have shared publicly. Please enjoy, and thank you.
