Love Is Complex

Love is Complex

It’s an evil trap

It’s a kind gift

It’s a bandage that wraps

It’s the bomb floating adrift

Love is complex

It’s screaming and fighting

It’s hugging and kissing

It’s yelling and crying

It’s yearning and missing

Love is complex

It’s a bone that breaks

It’s a scar that heals

It’s a friend who flakes

It’s a glue that seals

Love is complex

It’s life’s greatest sorrow

It’s life’s greatest joy

It’s the last tomorrow

It’s a Christmas toy

Love is complex

It fills me with hate

It fills me with longing

When I approach Valentine’s gate

Will it find me belonging?

Love is complex
