Love is Death

I am a creature hidden by light Till darkness falls to purest night I find my victim coiled in bed Knowing that she is nearly dead. She feels me come upon her now My empty shadow, a deadly vow There is no hope, no second chance No time left for sorrow's dance. She fights no more, she's met her fate She senses death, it's far too late The rusty hinges ease shut the gate For sweet nothingness, no longer wait. Her mind was erased of his every trace Then flooded with images of his haunting face Her sweet freedom was tauntingly brief Then at long last, death ended her grief. That love could cause such profound pain And leave her heart with its black stain Or be as sweet as sugar's cane Drove her fragile soul insane.
