To Love a Demon
It seemed as if her heart had become a supernova,
exploding into nothingness in
one last beautiful show.
The man from above abandoned,
light hidden from her eyes,
thirsting for a black power that promised to heal, to love.
To her, he was the beauty of the millennia,
the Gemini of Adonis,
her lover.
And so he was.
Seeking him from the ghastly, pale moonlight
for exchanges of thorned roses.
She desired love that would last a lifetime,
and he desired a soul,
so wouldn't their love last a lifetime? Hers?
Then there was a solar flare.
Your lover is a demon.
He is a predator.
You are his prey.
But she was too enchanted by the unholy beauty.
The warmth that came from the bitter cold.
The cursed promise from a saccharine voice.
So she only said this:
So be it that he is a demon.
But oh, do I love him, so he is an angel to me.
