Love at First Sight

I waited for you
To notice me since the day I laid eyes on you
Your beauty left me with no voice to compare you to anything as magnificent as a creature like yourself
And yet I found the words to say a simple greeting trying not to get tongue tied
And from then on  everyday was a step closer to my only true goal

I waited for you
I memorized your schedule to a T just to walk you to all of your classes while making myself late for my own
At one point I thought of myself as foolish
While trying to gain your attention, it eluded me that everything I did for you you probably would have no intention
of ever doing for me

So again I waited for you
To treat me as a treat you
To place that diamond studded crown at my feet as I did when I courted you
To think that somehow you would return the kindness and or at least pleasant gestures that I do for you
I made it seem so effortless but I bent over and broke my spine to accommodate you. I didn’t expect anything in return but I hoped for the best

I waited for you
When you admitted to me that you weren’t ready for a relationship
Love was the 4 letter word that I have known since I first spotted you
But if I can’t give you my heart then to who?
