Love At First Words

I knew you were mine the moment you spoke so truthfully You held no guilt in your words My soul was wide open in front of you And yet, I have never touched you I have heard your voice But you cannot hear mine If only you knew me Your tongue speaks not like an open textbook But like ink on parchment from olden times A quill in one hand Ideas pouring out like water from a broken pipe You saw me though you didn't know me How is it that you know just what to say? I dreamed of your words once They kept me well rested that night I only wish that I could do the same for you But you are brave While I hide behind guilt and a faded heart My only strength are your words
