But love isn't an excuse

"I love you" my mom whispered as she ran her fingers through my hair,

"I love you" my father said trying to get me there,

"I love you" my stepfather said as he headed to work,

"I love you" said the boy who took my self-worth,

"I love you" said the boy as he forced himself on me,

"I love you" said the girl who helped me learn to see

"I love you" isn't always true

"I love you" he said as he left me out of the blue

"I love you" I whisper to the little boy on my lap

"I love you" I think looking down at the map

"I love you" I try to whisper to the mirror looking at the person in front of me

"I love you" I say to the boy who held me in his arms as I cried

"I love you" I whispered in the hospital wishing I had died

"I love you" I say to the girls who cared about me

"I love you" they said back to me

"I love you" i whispered tossing the rope on the tree

"i love you" my mother cries as she buries me
