Love Jones
Run with me through cigarette fog
Tell me you love me through clouded judgement
Recite scriptures
Whenever you kiss my palms
Write lines of poetic truths on the lines of my fingers
Reassure of this
Whatever this may be
Let me know that it is between us
Without words being said
Dance with me
Make me eggs in the morning
Sleep in my arms at night
As we watch the stars dance on the ceiling
trace the shadows of Coltrane’s notes on the walls
Memorize all of Jill’s lyrics
And float on Lauryn’s melodies
Lay with me
Let me read your mind,
Rub the wrinkles that hide your thoughts on your forehead
i want to watch you sleep
Memorize the way you breathe
The pattern of your chest as you dream
What does your imagination hold when your eyes are closed?
i want to dangle off your every word
Want you to guide me to your tongue, lips.
Want to explore all of you.
Want to graze your teeth,
Know what makes your jaws clench,
i want to know all of you.
Intoxicated from the thought of your being
i want you to look at me
Like i am the oxygen you crave
What we have, whatever this may be
Is easier than breathing
But there are always casualties
We become one and i lose myself in it all.
Leave my morals at your front door
My resistance in your sheets,
My scent of anguish left on your blankets
So that you recognize my return
You smell like my dealer
Addictive, dealing me nickel bags of you
Dubs of you
That keep me calling your phone
Keep me coming back
An excuse i use to talk to you
i want to write in cigarette fog about you
So that you will know how it feels
To slowly disappear
