Love is Just a Word
I will never forget the words you used
To lure me into your verbal abuse
The kind, gentle, amazing person on the outside
You always defended my honor but never protected my pride
You stole the inside of me
The part I could not see immediately
Until it was gone, and I was incomplete
I was robbed, my heart missing beats
In my head thoughts meandered
Myself wishing I had never taken a gander
At the world that lay behind
But was truly not worth my time
My body deteriorated, leaving nothing but hope
That someday I will avenge leaving you to choke
The heavy breathing that circled the air
Mocked me fiercely with such a glare
I could not control my thoughts
They were devouring my lots
But I learned to live
With something to give
And all I could give was my forgiveness
To you, and all the times I refuse to miss
My mind is now clear, no thanks to you
With many wise decisions I have been through
The words “I love you” will never mean the same
And the only person I leave is you, to be the blame
Of all my hardships going through life
Your counterfeit love will always be the knife to my strife
I wish I had thought about my decision more closely
It really would of helped me live the life of “me”
With more purpose, meaning, and happiness
Instead of changing who I really was in order to impress
