Love Lesson

For a lengthy period of time; I would search, but never thought to find,

A soul mate, around which I can be free to be me, and unwind.

A partner, to jump over life’s strategically placed hurdles with,

A prince charming to turn fairy tales into reality; to prove that love is no myth.

A best friend to support me, listen to me, and help me solve life’s issues,

A lover I never intended to lose.

In my head, I visualized the different traits which I desired; like a puzzle with many pieces.

The final product was an amazing life partner; the picture was clear, although the journey was a mess.

Life could throw anything my way, because with him I found clarity and serenity,

I was content, love was an emotion of which I had plenty.

My biggest problem was loving my love with too much love,

But that was a problem I just couldn’t get enough of.

I’d rather feel love than nothing at all,

Complicated, messy, confused, amazing, bipolar love; even when it drives me up a wall.

They say “it takes more than love to make a relationship work.”

This is true, life keeps potential obstacles; they are hidden in the shadows, and simply lurk.

But when you find something so rare, why let it go?

Because sometimes life wants to give you a life lesson to help you grow.

To show you exactly what you are searching for,

Life can bring it along and take it away, to inspire a fire in your core.

“If you love something, set it free; if it comes back, it was meant to be.”

This motivation will help you to a certain degree.

If you know what you want, pull it to you, with the law of attraction,

The tricky part is keeping away from any distraction.

False infatuation can conjure up unwanted oxytocin,

It can blind you, and make you feel like this love is what you’ve chosen.

You must be able to see clearly, and keep your priorities straight,

If a meaningful relationship with your soul mate, is what you want to create.

Go ahead and enjoy life’s love lessons; don’t call them “heartbreaks,”

Because the practice puts you on a path to the real thing; then there is love, not heart aches.
