Love, Love, Love

Love Love Love

I sit here thinking about this word

Is it real? Can you feel it? Does it hurt?

Everyone says it’s good, everyone says that it’s warm

So why does one get hurt so much when someone shows you love…

Love Love Love

Momma says she’s proud of me

Momma says she loves me

She says she does not mind having to work day and night to pay for college

She says she’s willing to do all she can in order for me to not end up like her

Cleaning these bathroom floors, these stained windows and cupboard doors

I know her back is aching, I know she has it rough

Why does her showing love to me hurt so much

Love Love Love

I’ve grown up in a family that’s struggled far too much

Immigrant parents that haven’t seen their families for over 16 years

Better life they said in the US

It’s hard to see the goodness here, It’s hard to see the love right here

Through the pain and tears we have grown strong

Through the pain and tears we have grown closer

Love Love Love

Love is what hold us close

Love is what keeps us moving

Without love there would be no compassion

Without love I would not have the will to keep pushing through

Without love I would not be able to make my momma proud

Love Love Love
