Love to Love You
Sophomore year.
I wait patiently by your locker, because I like you.
I sit up past late hours, desperately waiting for a call, because I like you.
I gush at the thought of your touch, because I like you.
Chills crawl up my spine as your lips faintly touch mine, because I like you.
I stare in awe at your smile, because I like you.
And I can’t forget chuckling at your nervous laugh, because I like you.
I cringe at the thought of you leaving,
Because now,
I love you.
Junior year.
Furiously, I scream your name in disgust, because I love you.
Your hurtful words linger in the back of my mind,
But I forgive you, because I love you.
I continuously wish I had never met you, because I love you.
I try to shift my focus,
But I fail, over and over, because I love you.
I try to forget you.
I try to forget us.
But, loving someone is anything but simple.
Senior Year.
I take you back, because I love you.
I answer your 3 AM calls, because I love you.
I beam when you laugh in your sleep, because I love you.
I won’t open the car door when you drop me home, because I love you.
I watch all of your favorite movies, because I love you.
I let you have the last bite, because I love you.
I talk about our future home, because I love you.
I will never stop loving you, because I love you,
And I love to love you.
