Love more readily than hate

Warmth emanates from the streaks,

filling the calm with a wholeness

and bathing the earth with a beauty

that by its quiet nature,

is often regarded with indifference.

As it falls to the ground,

it gives an intimate vibrance

to the joyful hues of the earth-

a quality of life that vitalizes growth.

Here the elements are illuminated,

and in the vulnerability,

each fair detail has more radiance

than the next.

Yet, what of the heat?

Would nearness to such an energy

not devastate?

Alas, there are those

who desire its absence,

who rather favor

the obscurity of the shadows-

the hollowness of solidarity in its place.

For in between the shafts

there is a shallow chill,

a forlorn silence,

and a profound emptiness

that fades the tones of the spirit.
