Love is not Lost
I walked outside to find my heart,
and Lord knows it was in the clouds.
I jumped to nab it but I couldn't reach.
I knew one day it'd be mine.
As I wondered through days without a heart,
I found sadness and madness but rarely gladness.
And I looked to the clouds for answers.
The clouds didn't say much, or at least I couldn't hear them.
So I turned away from the day.
As I turned another page in my life I grew weary.
Lord knows my heart was still in the clouds.
I met people who changed me and books that claimed me,
but my heart never met another.
Lord knows my heart was somewhere in the clouds.
At the ripe age of fifty I grew impatient and shifty,
so I shouted at the sky.
The sky didn't answer but it did start to rain,
a perfect summary of my days of resent.
The rain had ceased and once more I looked at the sky...
I saw my heart floating on towards me.
I gasped as my heart seemed to implore me.
A voice in the east said, "Take it. It's yours."
Only one thing came from my tongue, "Yes, Lord."
