Love Is Not You

Because of you

I couldn't feel anybody else's fingertips, I couldn't feel anybody else's words.

Because of you

I ignored the mirrors that held myself, my body, in the purest form.

Because of you

My trust was ripped to shreds, my heart left unable to mend.

Because of you

The sound of my zipper pierced my ears, endless flashbacks that end in tears.

Because of you

I love you was evil

I love you held hate

I love you meant trapped.

But now

I love you means trust.

I love you holds care.

I love you is warmth.

I feel safe, I feel wanted, I feel cherished.

My body is free, my body is mine, my body is a gift.

My heart can feel, my heart can care, my heart can trust.

I now know what love is, and I hope you do too.
