Love Owes Me
Love owes me
For the time spent, time wasted, and its sanctity
Love owes me
Love is supposed to be patient, love is supposed to be kind
Love wouldn’t wait for me, love left me behind
Love owes me
For believing in it, dreaming about it, begging and pleading for it
Love owes me
Love broke my heart and tore me up inside
Love never had my back, didn’t even want to try
Love owes me
Love never asked me if I wanted to leave, I wanted to stay. Love never wanted me to cleave
Love owes me
For all the nights I cried myself to sleep
For all the wounds that cut so deep
For all the hope I had
And how much I wanted love so bad
Love owes me…
You want to know the funny thing?
Love doesn’t owe me anything
There is something else in me that I lack
But one day, one sweet day,
Love will love me back.
