Love & Pain

A phantom lurking in the shadows and seams, Captivating your dreams and even your desires. Is it love or pain that has this numbing power? Or are they equal in their trade of business? We fantasize about love that's only true in fairy tales, Then we are dumbfounded when this love isn't real. We swear off of dating and love for eternity, Then we search for something to pick us back up again. A fortune-teller that predicts the future before we even think, It was fate that I discovered my muse, At my weakest moment I decided to vent with pen and paper, I began to feel alive again. A spider spinning it's beautiful and distracting web, We're all puppets on super-glued strings. I had to feel pain to feel my love of writing, I had to sit and be introduced to many influences in my life. Edgar Allen-Poe, Emily Dickinson, Walt Whitman-they were my idols, Giving death and destruction more vigor than I could even imagine, I decided then to let them instruct me in my talent, and have never stopped writing since. Tragedy and pain ended me and also revived me, Cutting loose one life and opening another. Writing is now my oxygen, Writing is the reason I am renewed, reborn, and reawakened.
